Stump Grinding

Whether you are having a tree removed, or have an old troublesome stump somewhere on your property, Tree Solutions can remove the stump. Our Carlton professional stump grinder is small enough to fit through a 36 inch gate, but powerful and efficient at getting the job done. Our stump grinder is also light enough that you will not be left with ruts in your yard from some heavy tow behind grinder.

Cost of stump grinding:

Our minimum charge for grinding is $75.00 This usually covers one stump 18″ to 22″ at its widest diameter, or several small stumps. We offer free estimates for large/multiple stumps, for a few normal sized stumps we can usually give you an accurate estimate over the phone.

Options we offer for stump grinding are:

Full cleanup. We haul away all the grindings from the stump, and replace with fresh dirt to level out the grade. We can also sow grass seed, so in a month or so, your lawn looks like there was never a tree or stump there. Slightly more expensive, but a very nice finished job, with nothing left to do.

Minimal cleanup. We rake all the grindings back into the stump hole, and pack things down a bit. This leaves a small hump of raked grindings. It will settle over time, but no grass will grow in that spot for a while. This option is not much more expensive than no cleanup.

No cleanup. We grind out the stump, and leave the grindings where they fall, and the stump hole. This option is least expensive, but be aware that cleaning up a load of stump mulch is more work than you’ll expect it to be.

poplarstumpbeforeafter3
This poplar stump, and all its many large running roots were ground out after the removal of the declining tree. All grindings left in place and raked into a pile over the stump hole.
This red maple was removed due to two major complications. It had a exceptionally large girdling root constricting 80% of the trunk's circumference, and choking itself out (caused by improper planting), and an included bark junction which would have eventually caused the tree to split in wind or ice (caused by lack of formative pruning when young). Because a new tree was going to be replanted in the same spot, the stump was ground deeper than normal, and extra wide to give the new tree plenty of room for it's roots to grow. The grindings were cleared from the hole to make replanting easy, and they'll be used to mulch around the new tree after fill dirt is added with the new planting.
